Shmeruk, Chone
(b. 1921)
   Israeli Yiddish scholar. He was born in Poland and emigrated to Palestine as a young man. From 1961 until his retirement he was professor of Yiddish literature at the Hebrew University. He was the chief editor with H. H. Paper of the complete edition of the works of Sholem Aleichem, and co-editor of The Penguin Book of Modern Yiddish Verse.
